3 STEPS TO SETTING UP YOUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL
To create a YouTube channel, you will first need to be logged into your Google account.
You will have the option to create a Brand Account or Personal Channel.
The difference between these is that a Brand account can later be scaled to add users to your team or bots that help during live events.
I would suggest creating a Brand Account, especially if your long-term plan is to turn your channel into a Business.
STEP 1 – CREATE YOUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL
Log in to the Google account you wish to create your Youtube channel on, then click the link below.
Give your channel a name and click “Create“.
Congrats on your new official YouTube Channel, you are now ready to Customize your channel!
STEP 2 – CUSTOMIZING YOUTUBE CHANNEL ART
Start by Selecting “Customize Channel“, here you will have a few options;
Let’s take some time to set up your channel and make it look it’s best.
Channel Icon
- Edit Channel Icon, it is currently linked to a Plain Icon, so it will need to be changed.
Select “Edit channel icon” and “Edit“, here you can upload a photo to your brand account.
It is recommended that your picture be a JPG, BMP, PNG, that is 800×800.
Channel Art
- Select “Add channel art“, or click “Edit” and “Edit channel art“.
Channel art should be at least 2048 x 1152 pixels and be visually appealing.
Use this area to show off what your brand is about and your channel motto or plan to do.
Once an image is uploaded, YouTube will give you a preview of each image you upload.
Make sure it displays correctly on all devices, most users are watching YouTube with their phones.

A pop-up will appear labeled Channel settings, locate “Customize the layout of your channel”.
Click this option to enable it, and click “Save“.
This will give your channel a wider range of options such as Home, Videos, Playlists, Channels, and About.
TELL VIEWERS ABOUT YOUR CHANNEL
Now, with all tabs available locate and click on “About“.
Select “Channel Description” This area should let readers know what topic the videos will be on.
Tell viewers about the channel, why you’re passionate about the topic, and when you post content.
Here is a quick template I have used across all my channels;

After, let’s add an “Email” where you can be contacted.
Next, remember to include “Links” to your blog and social media profiles.
